A SYMPHONY FOR ANN
Oil Pastel + Acrylic on Canvas | 36" x 48"
This piece is a marker of my work evolving into something more personal. It's the first in a collection titled PRIMARY COLORS - a collaboration with my younger 4 year old self.
Somewhere along the way, l'm not sure when it happened but we became infactuated with perfection. Perfect circles, perfect grades, perfect hair.. This was a practice of spending endless nights and long days "perfecting something" and inviting my younger self who could care less about shading and detail to come play.
On another hand, also inspired by my first trip to a city I dream about a lot, New Orleans. I took this photo to document the gentlemen that were soundtracking the hustle and bustle of St. Ann Street. Ironically, a street that shares the same name as my mother. I named each musician after a man in my mom's life. They all play together in ... a symphony for Ann
